1. Namotel ‘Acche Din’ (∼ $1.5)

What! Just $1.5 ? Yes. an Indian based startup company Namotel launched a smartphone called ‘Acche Din’ which in English can be better translated to ‘Good Days’. The phones specification and features are-

Display – 4.0 Inch HD screenOperating system – Android Lollipop 5.1Camera – 2 MP Rear with AF and 0.3 MP selfie cameraProcessor – 1.3 GHz Quad-CoreStorage – 1GB RAM and 4GB ROMConnectivity – 3G, 2G, EDGE, GPRSDual SIM Dual StandbyBattery – 1325 mAh

The companies promoters said they made this product to show love for India and it will distribute the smartphone over Cash On Delivery (COD) on registration through their website. But many media outlets found the companies claims to be misleading and its official web page also doesn’t provide much info. As of information available, the company could be a scam.

2. Freedom251 (∼ $4)

Freedom251 took internet by storm on its launch with around 30 Million hits on its official website within a week. You can say Freedom251 as first super low-priced affordable smartphone. It was also launched by Indian company Ringing Bells Private Ltd. Let us look at specs and features.

Display – 4.0 Inch qHD screenOperating system – Android Lollipop 5.1Camera – 3.2 MP front with AF and 3 MP frontProcessor – 1.3 GHz Quad CoreStorage – 1GB RAM and 8GB ROMBattery – 1450 mAh

The price and specs may be tempting enough but many questions were raised because of realisticity of selling a smartphone at 251 INR. The phone was available on pre-booking. The phone looks like a Chinese phone where the original brand label was covered with whitener. Later it was discovered they rebranded and tried to resell Adcom Ikon 4 ($50) which was launched a month earlier. Hence, Freedom 251 turned out to be another scam.

3. Docoss X1 (∼ $14)

Launched after controversial release of Freedom251, Docoss X1 was also scrutinised because of its low price bracket. It’s official page included headline ‘No Scam. Real Phone For Cheap Price’, highlighting info on its legitimacy. Let us look at specs.

The company also made orders through its website on registration. It made newspaper advertisement and even added some real picks on its social media pages. But the thing here is everyone who registered didn’t get the confirmation message and many those who got the confirmation message didn’t got smartphone delivered. So, beware before you buy.
